Frequently asked questions: Everything you need to know
General
Many of our customers have special requirements that we are happy to address in order to provide the customer with an optimal product for the desired application. It is often only during a specific consultation that it becomes clear for which applications our personnel guidance systems or mobile loudspeaker systems are intended and whether additional solutions are required. For example, special hearing protection headphones for noisy environments or perfectly adapted foam inserts in the transport case tailored to your system. Our customers come from tourism, industry and culture. They all use the same hardware, but for different purposes - this makes individualization necessary.

The oft-used phrase "buying is better than renting" may sound good, but it doesn't always apply. Many people think that renting is a waste of money. This is only partly true - the initial situation is crucial.
Do you need to cover peak loads?
By renting, you save on empty and storage costs. Do you have different visitor or customer groups with different requirements for a tour guide system? You can choose the right equipment for your tour from our rental park. Our rental fleet includes tour guide systems with or without dialog function as well as the TOM-Audio TG-200 for extra-long tours with higher battery power and more stable range as well as 70 channels in total. We also offer appropriate solutions for people with disabilities.
You can also hire mobile loudspeaker systems from us. Be it for outdoor events or small and compact with carrying straps for guided tours in small groups.
Another advantage of renting is the flexibility
The number of your group members changes or you need equipment at short notice? You can easily reorder. With our 24/7 service hotline, we are always available for you if problems arise with your tour guide system. Alternatively, you can rent our tour guide systems on a long-term basis, for example for several months. If you decide to buy, renting gives you the opportunity to test your chosen product under real conditions. Our passenger guidance systems are always up to date as they can be updated. This protects the environment and conserves resources, and you always have the latest product when you hire. We prepare our rental handsets hygienically to avoid waste. We take care of the maintenance, storage and transportation of the personal guidance systems, so you don't have to worry about a thing.
Hiring is an uncomplicated alternative to buying!
Prefer maximum liquidity? A financing model can be particularly interesting if you have a large shopping basket, so that you don't have to plan a large budget straight away.

Dies ist abhängig davon, ob Sie eine oder eine bei BMS Audio kaufen oder.
This depends on whether you buy or rent a tour guide system or a mobile loud speaker system from BMS Audio.
Purchase: If we receive your written order before 12 noon, it will usually be dispatched on the same day by DHL parcel if the new goods are in stock. If this is not the case, you will of course be informed in advance.
Rent: Here we ship exclusively with DHL Express so that the rental goods arrive one day before your first day of use. However, this only applies to the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. The shipment of rental goods to other European countries (excluding Switzerland and Liechtenstein) can take longer, but is usually sent several days in advance so that the goods arrive on time. However, we cannot guarantee this. The rental goods will be collected from you or from the desired collection point by DHL Paket between 08:00 and 17:00 on the day after the last day of use. Please keep the box for the return shipment.
After the rental of our tour guide systems, the on-ear headphones and headsets are professionally cleaned after use and then disinfected.
BMS Audio offers individually packaged disinfectant wipes especially for reusable headphones. With the alcohol-free and odorless helpers, every headset can be easily disinfected after use. The handy wipes have been specially developed for headphones and the surfaces of group guidance systems. They therefore contain neither alcohol nor fragrances. This protects the plastic of the housing. If our rented tour guide systems are used for several tours, we also supply these disinfectant wipes. This allows them to be disinfected in between.
The handsets are as good as new after disinfection.

In Germany, transmission frequencies are defined and made available by the Federal Network Agency. Tour guide systems fall within the 800 MHz range allocated for mobile radio and wireless microphones. The majority of frequencies (downlink and uplink) are allocated to O2, Vodafone and Telekom for the provision of mobile internet.
The so-called duplex gap from 822 MHz to 832 MHz is located between the downlink and uplink. All other wireless microphone frequencies are permitted in this gap - in our case, people guidance systems.
Within this ISM frequency range, use in the countries of the European Union, Switzerland and Liechtenstein is free of registration and charges. All our devices have a general approval in Germany and Europe - this means that you do not need any additional license.
If you would like to use our system abroad and are unsure, simply contact us. We will be happy to provide you with information.
Tour guide systems
In very simple terms, a tour guide system consists of a transmitter and several receivers. A person speaks into a microphone. The sound pressure generated when speaking is converted into an audio signal. This signal is transmitted by the transmitter on a specified frequency either digitally or analog via radio. The receiver's antenna picks up the signal and converts it back into audible speech. This is transmitted directly to the ear of another person via headphones.
With a personal tour guide system, you can reach any number of people using precisely this technology. A transmitter, which in this case is used by the tour guide, brings information via headphones directly into the ears of an entire group, which can comprise any number of people.
Why do I need a tour guide system?
Behind every spoken word is an intention on the part of the sender. They want to be understood. Messages that are sent should reach the recipient directly and without interference. The basis is quite simple: the acoustics must be right.
If the other person doesn't understand me because,
- the voice is too quiet,
- there is a hearing impairment,
- the background noise is too loud,
- the group I am addressing is too large,
- the location is not acoustically ideal,
- only whispering is allowed
...my message is not getting through.
People often mistakenly refer to a tour guide system as an audio guide. We would therefore like to clarify the exact difference at this point.
An audio guide is a device that guides people through a museum or exhibition with a pre-recorded "audio tape", i.e. ready-made content. A tour guide system, on the other hand, is a kind of "mouthpiece" that facilitates communication between speaker and listener. The speaker saves his voice and the listener understands everything clearly. With our dialog-capable version TOM-Audio TG-101, even a controlled dialog with the group is possible.
Regardless of the background noise in which guided tours with a group are to take place, regardless of whether our systems are used in the private or commercial sector: With our technology, your speakers will always be perfectly understood by everyone. Here you will find all tour guide systems.
Do you want to reach several language groups at your conferences or events? This is exactly what BMS Audio interpreting systems are designed for. Our TOM-Audio TG-100 and TOM-Audio TG-200 are ideally suited for this purpose.
The aim is to address several people in their native language. The translator can work directly as a whispered interpreter at the venue. Individuals or a whole group of participants can listen to the translation wirelessly via headphones without any background noise.
In many areas, a clear understanding of the language is crucial. However, there is not an expert on site for every language, which is why it is extremely useful to use a versatile interpreting system for such situations. This not only enriches your conference technology, but also as a tour guide or for your event technology. For this reason, using an interpreting system is a suitable solution for numerous applications in order to keep every situation under control linguistically.
With our professional tour guide systems, you can translate all major languages clearly, comprehensibly and in a matter of seconds,
This allows you to react as quickly as possible to what is being said. In a bilingual guided tour, this means that the interpreter positions themselves next to the speaker and simultaneously interprets what is said into a microphone, while the audience listens to the interpretation via a receiver and headphones. The advantage of this is that the listeners can move around freely.
We are always your reliable partner for interpreting systems, so you don't have to wait long for the functional technology to be used. Our interpreting technology does not require a separate booth, so you can use your interpreting system at any location.
We are also available for the rental and hire of interpreting equipment. We deliver to any location, so you can hire your interpreting equipment at any location.
ADVANTAGES OF USING OUR TOUR GUIDE SYSTEM
- Your guests can move around freely
- The entire group is mobile
- With a tour guide system, you can use simultaneous interpreters when there is no room for a booth
- Tour guide systems are more cost-effective than interpreting booths
A simple answer: Yes!
Together with AWO Passgenau and its T_Ohr project, we have developed a set for reporting on the blind. This was used for the first time at the 2019 Men's Handball World Cup in Cologne. It is also currently being used at SV Sandhausen.
The difference to normal sports reports is that a blind reporter does not narrate but describes what is happening on the pitch. With our TOM-Audio TG-200 blind reporter set, inclusion is made easy. Blind and visually impaired people can sit in the audience and hear everything via headphones. It can even be used to operate a fan radio.
This makes it easier for visually impaired and blind people to participate, both for themselves and for society as a whole.
Note: Our TOM-Audio TG-200 reporting set for the blind is eligible for funding of up to €5000 from Aktion Mensch e.V.!
In Germany, transmission frequencies are defined and made available by the Federal Network Agency. Tour guide systems fall within the 800 MHz range allocated for mobile radio and wireless microphones. The majority of the frequencies (downlink and uplink) are allocated to O2, Vodafone and Telekom for the provision of mobile internet. Between the downlink and uplink is the so-called center gap (duplex gap) from 822 MHz to 832 MHz. All other wireless microphone frequencies are permitted in this gap - in our case, people guidance systems. This means that a constant range of 10 MHz is available in Germany. For use in all EU countries including Switzerland and Liechtenstein, 2 MHz from 863 MHz to 865 MHz is provided.
The TOM-Audio TG-101 from BMS Audio is the ideal solution here. This tour guide system with dialog function allows the group to ask questions of all participants. The tour guide can respond immediately and directly to questions, no question or comment has to wait until the end of the tour.
You too can use the TOM-Audio TG-101 to engage in customer dialog and win new customers.

First of all: further reach is not always better. Ultimately, the aim of a group tour is to keep the group together. The range of our people guidance systems also depends on various factors:
- Are you outdoors or in a building or even in a cellar?
- What is the environment like outside? Canyons or a wide open field?
- In fact, the weather also plays a role
- how many other groups are out and about in the same area who are also using people guidance systems?
With our TOM-Audio TG-100 and TOM-Audio TG-101 with dialog function, a range of 50-60m is no problem. Even inside buildings. This has also been confirmed by customers. With the TOM-Audio TG-200, it is possible to increase the transmission power and achieve a range of at least 100m. However, the question is whether this makes sense.
Try it out for yourself and ask for a free test of our passenger guidance system.

Troubleshooting
Of course, the channels on the transmitters and receivers can also be changed without the SyncKit. The SyncKit is a convenient solution so that not all channels on the passenger guidance systems have to be changed individually.
Proceed as follows:
1. insert the transmitters and receivers to be synchronised into the transport and charging bag (this requires a second generation transport and charging bag, which were delivered from August 2014).
2. connect the transport and charging bag to the power supply.
3. switch on the SyncKit by pressing the power button for approx. three seconds
4. now select the desired channel on the SyncKit using the minus and plus buttons.
5. now insert the SyncKit into a free charging slot in the transport and charging bag.
6. the LEDs of the charging slots light up five times in succession. All devices are now synchronised to the selected channel.
Note: There must only ever be one Sync Kit in the charging slots of a transport and charging bag for synchronisation to take place.
If you do not have a SyncKit to hand, please proceed as follows:
1. press the plus and minus buttons on the device simultaneously for approx. 3 seconds.
2. the key symbol goes out and the channel symbol starts to flash. This indicates that the channel lock has been cancelled.
3. now select the desired channel using the plus and minus buttons.
Important: The same channel must be set for the transmitter and receiver so that a radio connection can be established.
4. press the on/off button to confirm your selection. Alternatively, the channel is saved and locked after approx. five seconds.
5. the channel symbol stops flashing and the key symbol reappears on the display.
Please note: The distance between the transmitter and receiver must be at least approx. 30 cm. If the distance is less, interference and dropouts may occur.
As we are committed to sustainability, our passenger guidance systems are equipped with rechargeable batteries. The devices can be inserted into the slots in our transport and charging bags and thus recharged again and again. If a battery has reached a certain age or has been handled improperly, it must be replaced. As these are permanently installed in the housings, they cannot be replaced by yourself.
Please send us your personal guidance system, we will check the condition of the battery and replace it if necessary.
Do you have any questions? Do not hesitate to write to us or call us on +49 7951 9622101. We will be happy to help you.
